At a certain stage in life, even in a life that is extremely enjoyable, it’s possible to find the deep, unanticipated urge for another path. Theologian Frederick Buechner is quoted as saying:
“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”***
When such stirrings occur, it makes sense to honor them with reflection AT THE VERY LEAST! A number of dimensions may be examined before action – if any – is taken.
After making re-purposing decisions, I’m willing to bet that only a small minority look back and wish they hadn’t, with many more wishing they’d done so SOONER! When in doubt, be willing to make a suitable number of mistakes along the way, filled with joy at the opportunity.
*** one could argue that Buechner’s quote could be generalized to exclude references to God altogether and still apply to a “repurposement experience” …
